Did you know???

Vegetable oil works really well on an old can opener that it is hard to turn. (Safer than WD40)
That a 6 year old will eat dinner faster than a speeding bullet with the promise of an egg beater to lick. And a 5 year old will do the same, with a little bit of protesting, "It's not fair!"
That a 6, soon to be 7, year old will behave for big sister and clean house, so Mom can get her errands done and then do the birthday shopping. (I learned this last weekend!)
That Elvis Presley will soothe and calm a confused Grandpa trying to come out of anesthesia.
The same Elvis Presley will entice a much younger generation to smile, dance and not be embarrassed by their mother.
That canned soup, fruit and pie filling can freeze in the can when stored in the garage during the winter.
You can put the frozen cans in the oven while it is pre-heating to thaw them just enough to drop the frozen lump in the pan to thaw and heat.
My children will let me nap 3 hours and will not wake me to ask school questions. They will wait till I am awake to go over the states, the capitals and fractions.

Just a glimpse into the things I have learned today.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Phil 4:8

Winter Alpha Omega Publications Sale !

Alpha Omega Publications is having a Winter Sale. 20% off everything !
January 31, 2011 Only!
We have used Switched on Schoolhouse, Horizons and Life Pacs. My kids have loved them all. Currently my elementary aged kids use Horizons for Math and my first grader uses the Horizons Phonics and Reading. Plenty of practice problems. Lots of color on the pages to capture their interest. We have used Horizons for the last 8 years with great success. I hope we will be able to use it for the next 7 years, until my "baby" is grown up into the middle school years.
I will be definitely checking out the sale and my shopping list for the next school year to see what kind of deals I can find.
