"Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are the Ruler of all mankind; your hand controls power and might and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength" -1 Chronicles 29:11-12

If Only He KNEW!!!
Monday on the way to swim lessons, we passed the cemetary down the street from us. The kids heard me sigh and say, "ohhhh"
They were quick to ask, "What?"
There was a service in progress and the patriot guard was there.
So I told them, "A service man has died."
Which lead to questions about how I knew? The patriot guard is there.
What is the patriot guard? Explained that they attend funerals of servicemen to show respect.
"Will they be at daddy's funeral?"
Me: "I don't know. That is up to your daddy. I don't know if he would want that. I won't push him one way or another..."
Flutter Nutter: "NOOO, we don't push Daddy's buttons!"
Laughter, and lots of it.
"What do they do at a military funeral?"
"They play taps. 21 gun salutes."
"What's taps?" and "21 gun Salute!, What is that?"
The discussion then turns back to Big-O-Daddy-O and his funeral. What they think should be done and we don't push his buttons, or mommy's or Fun Mom's....
The conversations we have when Big-O-Daddy-O isn't around. Good thing we all love him so much!

1 secret + 6 hours + 1 Four year old =
So early on Monday morning (yesterday) Flutter Nutter was disappointed to not get a treat from QuikTrip when I did a Pepsi run. (Yep, I was tired, and juggling 5 kids on a beautiful spring morning with no reinforcements!) So while Hockey Player was buying, I told Flutter Nutter if he could keep a secret, I would tell him my suprise. If all went well that day, after swim lessons we would go to Happy Hour at Sonic. Believe it or not, the kiddo was MUM! He even reminded me several times to not tell. He was sooo excited to have a secret. He kept it in for 6 hours. When a four year old can do that, I happen to think something fabulous should be done for the darling 4 year old.... His smile says it all!
Spring has settled into my backyard.....
children playing in the backyard
giggles in the backyard
squabbles in the backyard
stinky boys that need nightly baths!
constantly hungry children
trees budding
and my magnolia tree, oh I mean bush is in bloom
About 12 years ago, we planted our magnolia tree. A couple of years later, Big-O-Daddy-O thought it was dead and cut the top of it off. And when a tree's main trunk is cut, no matter the diameter of that trunk, it doesn't grow any taller. I was devastated. Over the last 10 years or so, it has been a scraggly, twiggy kind of bush. Occassionally, a few big pretty leaves.
This year, is another story.
I was amazed and thrilled to discover this in my backyard this afternoon ~ She is beautiful!
My date with Hockey Player....

My Men.... What else can be said!
First off on Saturday, I was taking Hockey Player, Little Princess and Soccer Player (Little Princess' friend) to Nerd Camp. Funny name for a camp. But it is this amazing science camp being taught at WSU. So they got to make 'delightful' noises with balloons, learn about matter, mass, and create models of elements with poker chips. But on the way this is what Hockey Player looked like. Stuck in a vehicle with two, giggly, girly, girls in the backseat and his mother to the side of him, he just couldn't take it anymore.
Then remembering back to the earlier post about my little man, Daddy's Buddy where he told me "Whatever it takes to keep you happy mom." Well that has come back to haunt him. Cause now, when I want something done without arguing, I first remind him of what he has told me. The look on his face is priceless when he realizes I remember what he said. Now, onto the note of the pink shirt. I am still chuckling over this one. This morning getting ready for church, he was thinking hard on what he wanted to wear. I even suggested the pink shirt he wanted to keep. It has long sleeves after all. (I can be so onery!) His face all twisted up with concentration and thought. He told me I could have the shirt back. The delight and laughter that bubbled in my inmost being knowing I was right all along, but I can't show that delight or laughter or it will be Daddy's Buddy undoing !
Then this afternoon, at the park, gazing down on Little Flutter Nutter's head I saw something catch the light. I thought, "It couldn't be!?!"
But it was! His very first gray hair. And he is only four years old. The toll of being the youngest is getting to him.
But wait I have one more man in my life! And he has a quick wit.
Yesterday afternoon, I was losing it. A half week's worth of laundry to catch up on...our dryer is dying, and I was only doing what I absolutely had to, do during the week. (We were suppose to get a new dryer Saturday morning and ended up with a loaner because a forklift damaged our dryer when unloading it!) A pile of paperwork and such that needed doing cause Big O Daddy O's boss was going to upset the applecart around here and change his work schedule and environment and make all things a little bit crazier for the Mom, because BigODaddyO would be otherwise occupied and not very available to help much.
It seems knowing the mom was busy, meant all the children had to keep having questions for mom. You know the kind, "Mahhhhhhm, where's my socks?" "Mahhhhhhhhhhm, what does A-N-X-I-O-U-S spell?" "Mahhhhhm, Can I play outside?" "Mom, I am thirsty. Can I have some juice? Will you get the juice for me?" "Where's my shoes?" "Can you tie my shoes?" "What does I-R-R-I-T-A-T-E spell? (A friend of mine says motherhood is like being pecked to death by a lot of little chickens! I have to agree it does seem that way at times. )
So I lost it and announced, "I know, I know everything and have all the answers. But did you know your dad is smart too? He even is able to answer a few questions. I know you think he doesn't know everything, but he is really smart and just might suprise you. So, why don't you go check with him first."
Problem solved. Right?
Child asks Dad question.
Dad says: "I don't know, ask your mother!"
UGH! ! ! ! ! !! Never a dull moment around here.
