In all Fairness to Dad

After my last post, I thought it necessary to update all those sympathizing with dear ol' dad.
It isn't all that bad.
Dear ol' dad had Monday off (you know 3 days ago, the day after his son scored for his mom).
Son had another game in the house league.
He scored once and had 2 assists!
One mom said that was a hat-trick in her book.
It netted my son $3 from Dad, $1 from Grandpa.
Not to mention the $2 from the day before from Dad and the $1 Grandma gave him.
To my horror another parent at the rink paid him $1 for his goal on Sunday.
But when all was done and said....Who did he score for? "MOM! ! "
Yep that's right. Mom was there and it was all for MOM!
At least Dear Ol' Dad got to see it!

For You MOM! !

I have been coaching dear son!
It is bearing fruit.
We went to Arkansas last weekend for a hockey friendship game series.
Saw my aunt and uncle, took the Grandma with us.
Took lots of detours, visited 4 states in less than 48 hours!
Saw my son score a goal in the third game of the series.
It was perfect! It was beautiful!
I saw it! ! ! Dad has yet to be there for a goal as of last weekend!
Of course, I wouldn't gloat or anything.
But I do shuttle dear son to practice 3 times a week.
I chase kids while he does his thing.
I wash his gear occassionally when the stink begins to seep out of his bag.
I buy tape, pay for skates to be sharpened.
I try ever so hard to understand every aspect of the game and try equally hard to not allow my eyes to glaze over when he tries to explain some very important detail or fact of the game to me.
So, I think it is only right to convince my son that every goal he makes "is for you mom!"
He played so hard for all 3 games.
The other team's goalie filled 2/3 to 3/4 of the goal. There was barely any room to score around him. He would move an inch in either direction and could block almost every attempt.
It had to be maddening for my son, he had so many shots.
All the parents on the team roared with excitement for him!
I was on the phone in a blink calling Dad.
Mind you not to gloat, but to let Dad know he needed to go to the bank and get money.
He owed his son some cash ! !

My Lord loves me ever so tenderly.

He even answers the ever so huge questions that I don't think He will answer.
We have had a tough year.
Yet, I know my God uses all things for his purpose and glory.
However, I have found myself just asking for a glimpse of the big picture. Just some evidence that He is working all this into some good.
Cause with all the hurt, anger, devastation, disappointment we have had in the last 7 months, I just wanted, needed to see something good come of it.
I know God uses all things for his purpose and glory.
I have witnessed it time and time again in my life.
Most of the time it has been further down the road when the memories aren't so fresh and strong. This time, as I struggle with emotions and revisit the need to forgive yet again, God gives me a glimpse of the good He is working. Not months or years later but right now our sorrow is working good and saving lives. For this I am most awed and grateful to my heavenly Father for giving me this glimpse. I thank Him for the lives saved and protected as a result of what we have been through.

It's a good thing I am not "weird weird"

Several days ago, one of my children discovered moms can have gray hair.
Honestly, as far as I can tell, I do not have any grays. And no I am not pulling them out!
This child could not figure out for anything how a mom can have gray.
Cause they do. Or maybe stress. "You mean from having kids?" I am asked.
Oh, how I want to roll over laughing. "Well, maybe." I reply.
So anyhow, point made. Moms can have gray hair.
"Well that's weird." Shock, horror from siblings that such a thing has been said.
"Well, you know weird, weird."
So all you moms out there, you aren't suppose to have gray hair!
