Last post of the week!

Since D has provided a tremendous amount of material this week, it seems only appropiate to share his latest and greatest.
He, like so many of us, has NO SELF CONTROL!
Mind you I am not pointing fingers.
Yesterday we went here..

http://www.learningcenter.org/

and saw :

Of course, I was not prepared again..... They had a peanut demonstration!

Of course I did not have Benadryl with me. Fortunately, we didn't need it.

Then we went to Great Grandma's who lived only 15 minutes away from the museum. We had a lovely visit for an hour- hour and a half.

Time to go and that is when Daniel just couldn't resist. Someone left a choc. chip cookie out!
He had to go for it big time. EGGS, MILK, CHOCOLATE AND NUTS.

"I sorry Mommy, I sorry Mommy!!!" I know, I know, but why ? ? ? He knows what happens, he knows he can't eat chocolate chip cookies. Fortunately, I did not have to epi pen him. The cookie only got on his tongue. We made it back into Wichita in record time, cause I had no Benadryl and neither did anyplace along the way. So we got to Dillons. I parked in Handicap! ! Forgive me people, but I had to get my son some Benadryl way quick.
In the store I found

Which I tore open right there in the store. Which was comical cause I couldn't figure out how to get the tablet out of the doodad. Later in the evening I had the same problem. But these are great cause you can slip it on his tongue when he is sleeping. When he has and exposure like this he is suppose to get Benadryl for 24 hours.
Then of course I discover this kind after I finally got the other kind in him.

Now I have both. One for the car, one for the bag!

Then we get to go to the AWANA Grand Prix (spelled it right Sara!** wink ** wink**)

If only that could be all....

when they were announcing the very last of the races.... (cause the pictures just above were for the age bracket dear son was in.) Now it was time for the Grand Champion Race!

and dear D just can't let it be all about Brother...He needs his pants cleaned. I get him to wait just long enough for....

This announcement:

Dear A goes to get the diaper stuff. I turn my back for just a moment and a mom calls my attention to the fact my son "is naked and doing something ! " Making a mess is what he is doing. So mortified I am.... Scoop him up and run for the bathroom, but not before I hear the other moms laugh and say something close to how glad they are past THAT stage!

Fortunately, he fell asleep in the car. Stayed asleep so I could just put him to bed!

Whew, that took me longer than I thought it would. Now it is the next day! And D is up asking if he can be up now? Not at midnight. He just doesn't want to go to bed!! !

His other side!

So I have been blogging about life with my 3 yr. old. Not the most flattery posts of him and his behavior. There is another side to him. This is from last week. However, he has kept me so busy, I am just now getting to look at the pictures and remember the other little sweet boy that lives here.

He came to me this particular morning...
"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Look! I am handsome!"
Yes, he is and cute as well.

If only.....

I could spend a day as a little boy.
Just to have a better understanding of what goes on in that head of theirs.
I have thought that many times this week.
Maybe I could handle the "moments" just a little better.
In the car this morning he begged for a juice pouch.
I willingly gave him one with the instructions, "don't make a mess."
"okay, mommy."
Then I hear, "Are we going home? My pants are wet. I want to change."
Thinking here...I am driving....No underwear, he is in diaper...errr Mess with pouch.
"Nope, you spilled your pouch. Guess you are going to wear cold, wet clothes."
"I want to take them off."
"Nope, you weren't suppose to make a mess. You'll have to live with the consequences. "
It is 30 degrees. His coat, shirt and pants are wet. Bummer. Maybe he will learn this time.
Then in the dr.'s office (yes, yet another trip) D was getting into things yet again.
I looked at him most seriously and said,
"You know, there are plenty of fun things to do. You don't HAVE to make messes."
His reply, in all seriousness, "I don't ? ? ? ?"
Wow, new concept! He doesn't HAVE to make messes!
Is that what we needed to do all along? Tell him he doesn't HAVE to, that there are other things to do. Well tomorrow is Friday the 13th. Will I get my wish to be a little boy for a day? Better yet, a wish come true....a day with no messes.

The last 48 hours!

D has tested to see if he has 9 lives like a cat.
He has tried to determine the value of forgiveness and mercy.
He has tested by scientific methods the patience of his parents.
He has flushed underwear.
Tried to flush coloring pages.
Flushed a plastic bottle.
Dumped red paint on carpet and new bathroom floor.
Dumped white paint on his bathroom floor.
Dumped a bag of chips on dining room floor making a trail to his bedroom.
Poured his juice on the floor.
Insisted on taking everything away from his brother N just because N had it.
He tore up all my research on high school requirements for graduation.
(I am trying to make some curriculum decisions.)
Dumped who knows what all over my bedroom floor.
I refuse to count how many fits he has thrown.
Discovered he has been eating chocolate chips which have milk and he is allergic to...when asked, every bite was worth it.
Got his dad up at 5 on Monday morning. (I must say, I am glad it was Dad and not me.)
Peed on whatever he could and when asked why??? "Cause I can." he says matter of factly.
And well, that is what we have managed to discover thus far!

So now there is a debate. Who gets Daniel for the weekend! There is a hockey tournament out of town. Someone gets to keep him...... Dogs have kennels. Is there anything similar for 3 yr. old boys? Grandma says it is not her ! !

We do love and adore him. He redeemed himself tonight by falling asleep on the way home from Awanas. Not only did he fall asleep. He slept through me putting a diaper on him and putting his pants back on and putting him into bed. That is completely unheard of ! ! !! Mom is rejoicing for giant miracles and acts of mercy by our Loving Heavenly Father.

This post is for you Grandma!

The news is: our trip is paid for! !
What better month to pay off a trip to Ireland than March!
My Mom's Dad's family is from Northern Ireland.
I am just getting a little bit excited.
I was going to get our passports taken care of this weekend.
To my mom's chagrine I am waiting till April.
Cause I got a call from the orthodontist.
If all goes well....A is getting her braces off in April.
She so wants a photo with no braces.
The travel agent says it takes 6 weeks to get a passport.
We'll need them in October.
6 mos. should be long enough ? ! ?
We'll pray, cause sometimes it doesn't seem we have the luck of the Irish after all.

Because we just can't let it slow down any....

So we thought dear N had a bad spider bite!
We didn't even know he had a sore until lunch time.
We find out 2 hours later it isn't a spider bite.
It's MRC infection. Erghhhhh,
Just beginning to feel like our life was settling back into a before August 2008 pace.
What was I thinking... before August 2008 was just like it has been after August 2008.
Just different goop to deal with.
So now we spray showers down with 50/50 bleach solution after every shower.
Hmmmm, 7 people in one house.
Quick go buy stock in bleach!
Yes, Dara my children do bathe more than just on Sat. nights.....
We sterilize and clean the house.
Oh and I have to buy a $10 bottle of soap, actually 2 of them.
Mind you they are not big bottles either.
Thank goodness for the Register Rewards I earned on the Huggies and Kotex deal this week!
After the cost of special soap, spray bottles for bleach solution and my free "Sense and Sprays" , Register Rewards and coupons...my out of pocket was only a little over $5 ! ! ! !
I love it when couponing helps save my budget at times of crazy illness.
Thank you Lord for providing.

Construction Flubbers

Why is it the projects that look the easiest turn out to be the ones you stumble the most through.
We thought we would tackle the closet this week.
Have a place to put stuff.
Then we would tackle installing cabinets and counter tops in the basement for our new school -project work area.
So tomorrow will be day 3... on the closets.
Of course we had one kiddo not feeling well.
A dad that was dragging on Monday.
But on the otherhand it has been a comedy of errors and miscommunication and well...
tomorrow we start all over again from scratch.
Sure will be wonderful when it is done.
Who knows we might also tackle two kiddos' closets as well? ! ?

They learn so quickly !

It is bed time.
I have been extra growl-ie with the boys.
Couldn't possibly have anything to do with 3 yr. old D.
He poured paint all over the hall carpet.
Oil - based paint.
Paint biggest brother left out when he was done painting his
Grand-Prix pine wood derby master piece!
Moments before hockey practice and ice skating lessons.
Moments later we discover he had another bottle.
He was screaming about being sent to his room and that he doesn't like me anymore.
I am used to that.
But I am not used to white paint being poured all over bed room carpet as well.
The hall is splotchy red.
The bed room is spotless thanks to my wonderful oldest daughter.
She stayed home while we went to the ice rink and scrubbed the floor.
But back to bed time. I am grumpy.
I just want these mongrels disguised as cute little boys to go to bed.
I can then relax and prepare for more of their antics tomorrow.
The house is quiet.
I have let oldest son watch the hockey game on tv.
All of a sudden I hear...."You are the greatest, Mom."
"what? ?" An Isaac and Esau moment. That doesn't sound like my oldest.
"You are the greatest, Mom." It isn't my oldest.
But who is out of bed, the youngest.
What better way to try and get out of bed and trouble for being out of bed....
then to try and smooze the Momma...
It is good they are cute. Cause in the end, I think it is what saves them through these years.
