When Dad Speaks, All Must Listen and Obey

Sometimes life gets a little you know crazy with our crew.
Big O Daddy O, sometimes, gets a little discombobulated.
When he does, he can be heard saying,
"GO STAND ON YOUR HEAD AND BARK LIKE A DOG!"

Well, Flutter Nutter obeys, and obeys, and obeys this command.

And then Daddy's Buddy joins in!
At least their energy is directed elsewhere.
Away from the Big O Daddy O, who just needs a little more space at the moment.

Hockey Player Rocks the Track!

This was Hockey Player's final Awana Grand Prix as a clubber.
Our Club has started having a leader division the Grand Prix.
So that means next year as an L I T he will be able to compete as well.
If mom and dad have the time to do help get the car cut out.

He was going for "Best Paint Job" or "Most Realistic Car"
A McLaren was his choice design.
Set up the laptop, studied pics, took some serious time picking out just the right paint colors.
Then he demostrated a great sense of humor and tremendous grace when the winner was announced for "Most Realistic Car".
He lost to his Silly Monkey Sister's Car.
Seriously? What is realistic about monkeys driving a car?
He took it well.
He wins "Best All Around Hockey Loving Son" award
and
"The Most Awesome Big Brother" award.

Princess Monkey!

Awana Grand Prix was earlier this month.
We started dreaming and planning the end of December.
Work started early-mid January.
Little Princess went for Fun.
Banana Yellow with Monkeys riding and driving!

Who knew she would win the award for "Most Realistic Car"

Check out the monkey holding the steering wheel!

These monkeys are little wowed! by their ride down the track.

Growing Up!

Some of my younger friends have been asking me what I have done in terms of talking to my son about growing up.  I have been telling them about the Boy's Body Book.

I had done quite a bit of research before deciding upon this book.  But what caused me to take the plunge was the reviews that compared it to the American Girl book, "The Care and Keeping of You.
I especially like the fact that the 3 letter word is not discussed.  It, also, encouraged the boys to take on household responsibilities like laundry.  Talked about how body changes aren't an easy thing to talk about for the kids or the parents and some of the reasons.  Presents a nice foundation for understanding and communication on both sides.

Linkology Equals FUN FUN FUN !

So I have been suffering from some serious homeschooling burnout.  I confessed to my husband while we were in Kansas City and heading to Mardels.  Of course, this confession plus adding I had no list or specific motivation for going to Mardels scared him!  Me in a store with homeschool stuff, books and who knows what else without a list can be a disasterous event for our checkbook.  My goal, to find some FUN to inspire me as we finish out the semester.  Spark a little enthusiasm in this momma who is getting bogged down by parents failing in health, a grandmother quickly declining cause age is catching up to her and life in general.
So today, lacking the motivation to pull out the science book to read, I grabbed the cards and invited Big O Daddy O to play with me.  4 of the 5 kids clamored to join us.  IT WAS FUN!  They learned a thing or two, as did I.  This game set is on the classification of animals. Two thumbs up.  Maybe we will play again tomorrow. :)
