Clark Pyromaniacs on the Fourth of July

D was not going to let anyone get his fireworks, so he sat on them. N kept going in to the light! We had to keep yelling for him to step backwards. He was transfixed by the glow, the noise, the whole bit. He can't wait to be six so he can set some off on his own. M's parting words were "that was a fun night". A this morning told her dad, "I think it took as long to clean up as it did to set everything off last night." Between the neighbors and what we had our street's firework show went for 2-3 hours. Lots of fun.

Fourth of July Memories

I love this picture of all the kids in a row!

More Fourth of July Moments

Summer at the Clarks means trips to the ER

Well at least one trip to the ER. This year it was N's turn. He was fighting with his brother around the stairs. Dad was at the store. Kaboom. There were tears, mom patted his back and off he went back to play. Ten minutes later, the kids are trying to figure out what all this red stuff is around the basement. Hmmm doesn't taste like popsicles says the oldest! Now, Mom notices some red stuff on her hands. N comes over to show mom the red stuff he can't get off his hand.... LIGHT BULB MOMENT this is blood! I turn N around and there is blood just running down the back of his head onto his neck. Boy this crew is trained. Everyone knew what to do, get mom the phone, get a washcloth, find shoes for mom, get N in the car. A neighbor came and sat with the kids until dad got home! 3 Staples later we were back home and going to bed. Staples! that is a new one for this mom. I survived. Must say I wonder if I could do that myself if there is a need. HAHAHAHA Battle Wounds, he has a story for church and Sunday school now.

D, TWINS, BLANKIES, OH MY!

D likes to wake up with the birds. He thinks he is Skippy John Jones from the book. This particular morning the two of us were up bright and early. Before he came to me, he discovered two baby dolls in his room. He brought them to me and wanted to share his blankies with them. It was so sweet. Especially since friends of ours just had twin girls and they were able to leave the hospital the day before! Of course he has no clue, but it was special to the mommy. You can see the progression though in the pictures from being super sweet and generous to that's enough give me my blankies.

Ants yet again

So we tried it again. The pictures turned out fabulous! Alas, no different results. The kids had great fun showing their friends what to do though. We met up with another family at the park. Recess while we wait on the experiment. However, tummies started to rumble this time. Tears started to roll as naptime was rapidly becoming a necessity. Maybe in the fall we'll try again.

Summer School has Perks!

So while we waited on the ants to do their thing! We checked out the fountains to cool off. Then we headed on over to the play ground and had tons of fun. My oldest was at camp this week, so play we did. When it started to get too hot, and the Y camp kids showed up we headed on over to check on our experiment. Then it was time to pack it up. Recess Rocks during Summer School ! ! ! ! !

Summer Science Experiment

Well we have yet to finish school! But joy of joys this momma realized what a blessing in disguise that can be. With one needing to finish 2nd grade, another going to start 2nd grade...we were able to do science for both of them! WOOHOO!
A friend shared with me her ant experiment she did several years ago. We are studying insects. We didn't end up with the results we hoped for, momma was a wimp at the park. It was too hot to stay all day, so after a couple hours we packed up. We were hoping to catch a line of ants going between the spoons of food and the ant hill. We got ants on the spoons. We had food missing from the spoons two hours later...probably birds, but no line. Maybe next time. The next day we went to another park, the heat won out and we left before our ants were marching for us. Too bad we can't risk doing the experiment in the yard. That would be perfect.

The Dynamic Duo hanging out!

One of those rare moments when these brothers are friends. Actually, I didn't catch this moment on film. My dear sweet 6 yr old M did!

I am grateful for her eye and desire to catch the moment.
